Issue 4: Integrated monitoring and qualitative uncertainty

Welcome to the fourth edition of the INTARESE Technical Briefs.

This issue contains two articles about INTARESE's work. Alena Bartonova, Hai-Ying Liu and Maria Dusinska introduce the concept of integrated monitoring and explain how INTARESE is using it to look at monitoring across more than one policy area and the whole of Europe.

In the second article Martin Krayer von Krauss explains how data quality is crucial to providing a solid foundation upon which to develop assessments and how uncertainties that aren’t easily quantified, such as the quality and relevance of the data available, still need to be accounted for.
