An Overview of "Science and Decisions: Advancing Risk Assessment" (Latest "Risk in Perspective" from the HCRA)
Harvard Center for Risk Analysis has published the latest in the "Risk in Perspective" series. This issue describes the National Research Council’s newly released “Science and Decisions: Advancing Risk Assessment,” which provides a framework for the conduct and use of risk assessment at the Environmental Protection Agency together with scientific and technical recommendations for improving risk analysis. The report is a major update to the NRC’s landmark 1983 “Red Book” (“Risk Assessment in the Federal Government: Managing the Process”). Harvard Center for Risk Analysis faculty member Jonathan Levy was a member of the NRC committee that prepared the new report and shares his thoughts on it in the attached “Risk in Perspective.”
