New Concentration database available
The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has added a new database to the Internet based platform (ExpoPlatform) providing datai and tools for exposurei assessment. The new Concentration database provides measured exposure concentrations in various exposure media (air, food, dust), exposure microenvironments (home indoor, outdoor, work, school, in-vehicle) and personal exposures and body burdens. It gathers all available data from studies that are extensive enough to be representative of the population exposures or exposure concentrations in city or country level. In other words, studies that have only a few concentration samples are omitted because the data is considered to be too local. At the moment the biggest shortcoming is that the databae only contains VOCs and metals. Particles and other important compounds are not included, but there are plans to add these at a later date.
If you have some data or links to some data/publications will help the database cover the gaps please contact Arja Asikainen. THL are planning to link this data to INTARESE toolbox, so this could be a way to add your data too.
