Applications are invited for PhD studentships in environment and health within the MRC-HPA Centre for Environment and Health. The Centre is a joint collaboration between Imperial College and King’s College London with the mission to become an international centre of excellence for research and training on the health effects of environmental pollutants.

The objective of the course is to to provide knowledge and understanding on challenging issues in health risk assessmenti, i.e. health risk assessment of combined exposures and of the sensitivity of early exposurei during development.

The course is intended for PhD students, post docs, senior scientists and other professionals. Funding for travel, subsistence and course fee is available for PhD students and post docs.

RESEARCH ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS

The newsletter (see attachment) gives information on current research issues on climate change, on natural hazards and on risks to health from the environment. Research on these issues is being funded by European Commission's Research Directorate-General, Environment Directorate. The target audience is researchers, public authorities, students and others who are committed to or interested in the areas covered by the newsletter.

The European Toxicology Risk Assessmenti Training Programme is organised by
TRISK, a project that is funded by the European Union, in the framework of the
Second Programme of Community Action in the field of Health (2008-2013).

The objective of the training programme is to provide comprehensive
training in toxicological risk assessment that serves as a modeli for future
European training in risk assessment for accredited European risk assessors.

As part of the Conference of the EU's R&D project NoMiracle on Novel Methods for Integrated Risk Assessmentii of Cumulative Stressors in Europe, http://nomiracle.jrc.ec.europa.eu/default.aspx, to be held in Aarhus, Denmark, on September 28-30th 2009, NoMiracle are putting together special sessions on risk perception, communication and governance under the title "Breaking through: Evolving Concepts, Issues and Policies in Risk Integration".
