WP5.2 Internal Training

Ref:

The overall aim of this WP is to provide harmonised training to the consortium partners, in order to ensure common understanding and application of the concepts and methods used, and sharing of all knowledge and results. In the first phase of the project, key objectives will be:

  • to establish common understanding of the integrated assessment framework;
  • to ensure common understanding of the assessment methods used for each stage: from source to exposure, from exposure to health effect, and for risk characterisation.

The first stage of this work package will involve development and agreement of an internal training strategy. This will be developed in consultation with the relevant work package leaders (mainly those in SP1 and SP3), and will include a schedule of training sessions and identification of the training materials required.

Training materials will then be commissioned from the relevant work packages, and these brought together and integrated into a common form.

Training will be delivered via a series of training workshops. One workshop will be run on the integrated assessment framework, covering:

  • basic definitions and concepts;
  • the dimensions of, and links and interfaces between, source, exposure, and effect that need to underpin integrated assessment;
  • the core functionality and methodology required to assess releases, exposures and health effects, and to characterise risks and impacts, in an integrated and consistent manner (i.e. such that outputs from one link in the causal chain are compatible with input requirements of those that follow).

A second workshop will present the (integrated) scoping reports from the policy assessments, and discuss how they can be implemented, linked and used.

A third workshop will be organised on the assessment methodology, covering source-exposure, exposure-health effect, risk characterisation and cross-cutting issues.
