The overall aim of this WP is to assess potential exposures and health effects arising from solid wastes throughout their lifecycle, from generation to disposal or treatment and subsequent decomposition or reuse. In Phase 1 of the project, key objectives are:

• to review the established and suspected health effects of exposures deriving from the waste management cycle;
• to identify gaps in knowledge and methodology for effective characterisation of the health impact of waste disposal in Europe;
• to develop initial tools and methods for exposure and health risk assessment.
