The aim of this WP is to assess the public and environmental health impacts of housing within the EU with particular reference to the indoor environment and energy efficiency. Key objectives are:

• to review evidence relating to the quality of housing stock in the EU with reference to a suite of housing characteristics/home hazards, including, among others, ventilation characteristics/indoor air quality, energy efficiency and adequacy of home heating, radon, over-crowding, and water quality;
• to review the epidemiological and toxicological literature on the potential health impacts associated with these factor;
• to develop a broad ranking of their importance for health and from this to select a subset for further study and inclusion in the risk assessment model.
