WP2.2 Biomonitoring
Ref:
The overall aim of this work package is to assess the availability and performance of existing biomarkers and biomarker databases, and to provide guidance on how these can be used in integrated environmental and health risk and impact assessment. Key objectives are:
- to identify the currently existing biomarkers of exposure and effect which are relevant indicators for the selected environmental pressures (housing, transport, agriculture, climate, water, waste, household chemicals)
- to collect existing biomonitoring databases that can be used to describe the current situation and detect possible time trends and variations in the European Union
- to review methods to use biomarkers for understanding the cause-effect chain
- to identify needs for new biomarkers to be used in environmental risk assessment
- to construct a basis for an inventory of biomarker sources and methods.
